Reviews about the game
Pros -Seems somewhat interesting. -Not really any noticeable bugs. -Runs smoothly. Cons -No tutorial. -Achievements are broken. -Doesn't label any towers with prices so you don't know when your able to purchase them. -Gunner Towers disappear after around 5 seconds (Waste of money). -Tiny Cubes spawn WAY too fast, every cube should spawn the same amount of time but differ in prices. -After 10 mins it was so unenjoyable that I will most likely never look at this again.
Ideal of the game is fine. Building cube spawns to reproduce to interfere or destroy opponent's pillar base. Abandoned game. Achievements does not work. No words from the developer. Ignorant game from one of the bundle pack. Not worthy if to be purchased as a standalone.
It is a great concept, beatiful graphics, but the gameplay needs some work. Like maybe some challenging levels. BUT the biggest PROBLEM, is IDK how MUCH each UNIT COSTS, because there is no spot where it shows how many points it costs, and idk when i can place it down and when not, so far it felt random to me sometimes I could buy it sometimes not, please explain how it works, or if i just missed something then tell me how it works, thank you, otherwise great concept. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ON THIS GAME, IT HAS POTENTIAL.
There was very little I actually liked about this game. In fact I'd say the best thing about this game is that it is technically unfinished, so it may possibly become much more likable later on. And because it currently exists in a very basic state, there are a lot improvements that should be made in the future to make it better. Unfortunately, judging by what information is currently available the developers may or may not do so. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. First off there are some basic problems with the game. Achievements won't register as completed, there is no tutorial, and all visual effects are better left off. The worst part is the lack of a tutorial, If you look at different player descriptions of how the game works there is very little consensus to be found. I'm not even entirely certain if the game works the way I think it does. The following statements are mostly based on what I could infer from my experiences. There are several ways I feel the main gameplay could be improved. The game consist of building cube creators to defeat the opponents mothercube. There are temporary turrets (that disappear after a time) and constant cubes (that last until the end of a match). From here on out I will refer to both as cubes. Building cubes causes a cool down, regardless of what you build. Cubes cost points, but if you try to buy something too expensive the game will simply reduce your score to zero. Along with that, the cooldown can apparently be lessened by damaging the opposite mothercube. All of these mechanics incentivise a rushdown strategy and punish attempts to play defensively (which is ironic since there is a survival mode). For example, if one were to initially build a minigun (a fast firing turret that expires after a few seconds) his cooldown time would be much lower than one that chose almost any other cube; Because of this, he would be able to build another cube sooner than his opponent. These mechanics make the game very easy to win by spamming the minigun, much harder to win without using the minigun, and almost impossible to win if your opponent spams the minigun. On top of that each mothercube is a thin tower, and every cube is fired with a certain spread. This means that only the turrets can hit consistently, further decreasing the chances of winning without using the minigun or some other turret incessantly. But once again, since this game is early access, I'd like to list some ways I think the game could be improved instead of simply telling the developers that it is currently bad. Here are some of my ideas, in descending order of importance: [olist] [*] Make the mothercubes into cubes, or at least wider rectangles. If players can count on most shots missing (unless they use turrets) There is very little need to play reactively, but if most shots will hit if left unchecked, there will be a need to block them. If you still want to have an element of variability I'd suggest putting a weak point in center that takes extra damage from shots. In short, make the mothercubes larger targets. [*] Change the cooldown and score systems. Frankly they don't work. Prices, cooldowns, and cube parameters should be clear and consistent at all times. And the scoring system currently only benefits offensive strategies. I'd suggest giving each player an allowance at a set interval. For example, each player starts with 300 points, and recieves another 300 after a minute passes (like all things this interval could be shortened by increasing game speed). This way players that choose cheaper defenses will be able to build more of them. I'd also suggest only activating a cooldown after a player builds a turret, or implementing an overheat sytem (for example if you buy something half of it's cost would be added to a constantly decreasing over meter, and if the meter value exceeds half of the maximum mothercube health chosen for the game, you won't be able to build anything for ten seconds). [*] Be more proactive with updates. If the game doesn't get much better I don't see any reason to claim that it is a complete game on the store page. [/olist] In conclusion, So Many Cubes is not a very good game, but it has the potential to be good in the future if, and only if the developers are willing to improve it. I hope I have provided some constructive criticisms.
Broken and abandoned Early Access game.
Why am I getting some sort of ad or shit youtube video playing in the background that carries on after I close every single tab on my computer
