About the Game

Dive into Silica, an immersive blend of first-person shooter and real-time strategy, each true to its respective genre. The game allows you freedom of choice without forcing you to play as either.

Intense Shooter and Classic Strategy

If you prefer sand-filled boots, bullets whizzing overhead, and menacing alien jaws closing in, the infantry role is for you. Not limited to merely foot-based soldiers, you can also take control of any available vehicles, including the colossal Harvester, the speedy Light Quad, or the insidious Siege Tank, just to name a few.

Or, if chewing metal is your niche, then the hive-mind, insect-like aliens are your faction of choice. Shift your consciousness between creatures such as the stealthy Crab, the nimble Hunter, or the armored Goliath.

For those who'd rather command their forces from a distance, the esteemed role of Commander awaits you in the relative safety of orbit. Deploy Harvesters to silica crystal fields, hiding the valuable resources you're after. Construct and place immense structures to produce and dispatch units that will dominate the battlefield.

Key Features
  • First/third-person shooter - control any character, creature, or vehicle. You can leave the commanding to the AI.
  • Choose from 6 unique locations to play on.
  • Immerse yourself in 3 engaging game modes.
  • Singleplayer and multiplayer options - play alone or with up to 12 people in Strategy mode and 32 in Arena mode.
  • As a human, produce and select from 5 infantry classes and 11 distinct vehicles.
  • As an alien, spawn and shift between 8 different creatures.

Reviews about the game

This game possesses tremendous potential, but it is currently an absolute headache at this stage of development. AI unit control is nothing short of aggravating. Playing as the Human Commander will drive you insane as you witness your units killing each other while attempting to attack enemy units. Human tanks and heavy turrets mercilessly dismember your own army. The best tactic is to stand next to Human units, allowing them to eliminate each other. Human flying unit AI are demoralizing; fighter jets will fly on the ground only to be killed by a melee unit. It's somewhat enjoyable, but this game requires a substantial amount of improvement in the AI department.

I love it, very innovative. Combining both the aspects of the commander and a front line soldier. However, the only issue I have is the AI commander moves or does unnecessary movement to units that are in strategic positions, but overall I absolutely adore the OST, graphics, and terrain. The alien ability to climb virtually ANY surface is somewhat difficult to counter especially for infantry; however, easy to kill with vehicles (when the sun isn't shining in your eyes). As someone who plays RTS a lot along with FPS. I can certainly say that its very fun and really hope for the final product. A few issues with the unit pathing, its sorta chaotic when in open terrain or trying to move from small boulders using as cover. But works great in close terrain as it works for scenery. Another is, how does the drop ship work and how do you load units onto it? Is that a future mechanic that is being worked on or do I need to continue experimenting with it? For example, the old RTS game known as Supreme Commander has a similar transport mechanic and shows an icon for troops to automatically load up and simply dismount. Aside from that, I hope that the AI has some reworking such as a difficulty rating I.E: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Extreme. Or if that's being worked on then I hope to see that soon as well! Overall, a magnificent game and innovative on top of that! I have a great feeling that this will be like the next Supreme Commander or something will step up to change the whole RTS/FPS world. Heck, I hope that this will have its own unique category soon too!

Meh. It doesn't suck, but it sure doesn't shine either. Clunky interface, poorly balanced units, excessive path issues for non player units (particularly harvesters). Perhaps in time it will become something worthy but for now, just not impressed.

For now i won't recommend this game, because of these: - Lots of Bugs obviously - I9 and RTX 4090 are struggling with this game on Max Settings. - Loading took like 2-3 minutes although i have it installed on NVME's. - There is a bit stuttering when playing as a Commander and Frame Drop as a Player for long terms playing the same match. - No Tutorial for New Players and to be honest, i had no idea what to do beside controlling an Unit and being a Commander with absolute no clue. - Minimap need more polished like make the dot more visible for the Units im in charge with. - Voiced AI might be needed. - Multiplayer very empty and i'm sure this is the main point of the game but i understand why it's very empty for now. I have a great expectation for this genre after all. So i hope this can be more polished in the future and i'll check this out again.

Pros, -starcraft style strategy -great graphics -immersive fps cons, -severe lack of team gameplay mechanics( no passenger seats,no remote controlled turrets, etc) -missing sound effects(reload, etc) -the 2 human factions are practically the same -the human factions are stronger than the bugs because they have more abilities such as teleportation and being able to change your unit at base -you cant make more harvesting units even after they have been destroyed, making the game take longer -crashes fairly often - no customisation of any kind this game is 7 months old and is off to a pretty rough start, but still fun to play and can improve 7/10
