About the Game
-It’s Your Responsibility to Change the World-

Set on an Earth where mankind is being steadily annihilated by the alien invaders known as the BETA. Over the course of decades, humanity has come to rely on humanoid weapons called Tactical Surface Fighters in their attempts to resist the alien onslaught.

What choices will YOU make in a world that’s heading towards destruction?

Your actions will change the course of history for the whole world...

Project MIKHAIL is a mecha action game with three different modes of play:

1. A Story Mode with a full story for players to enjoy.

2. Frontier Mode, an online mode where all users inhabit a shared world, and each player’s actions have an influence on the story's outcome.

3. A PvP mode where players fight each other in their Tactical Surface Fighters.

[Story Mode]

In Story Mode, the player takes the role of Shirogane Takeru, the hero of

Muv-Luv Alternative

.

Throughout the story, the player will be asked to make choices.

How the story ultimately ends depends on the choices the player makes.

In Story Mode, the player not only makes their own story, they also get to construct their own personal Tactical Surface Fighter mecha.

By defeating the BETA and putting together the parts they drop, they’ll get to make their own ultimate fighting machine.

[FRONTIER MODE]

An online mode where all players inhabit a world where they're tasked with fighting the BETA invasion of Japan and saving the world.

Every player’s actions will have an effect on the balance of power between various factions and individuals, each with their own designs and plans for the future of Earth. Everything they do will change the state of the war.

Think YOU know what we have to do to save the world? Come up with your own plans, or work with other players to learn secrets you could never find on your own, revealing these factions’ deepest secrets and saving the world from destruction.

[PvP Mode]

A player vs player combat mode.

Players join two teams of 4 TSF pilots and battle one another.

The Early Access version of PvP is still in beta,

but in the future we’ll be adding:

・More TSFs to fight in.

・Voice chat

・Balance changes and roles to make team play more fun.

Reviews about the game

Project MIKHAIL: A Muv-Luv War Story08.12.2023
This ain't Valgern-On
I want to like this, but there just isn't much here to like. SAGA INTOPROCESS would never release a Valgern-On game that plays like this. The good: -Tons of different parts to upgrade/customize your TSF can be had by grinding, plus weapon experience to grind -It's something for Muv-Luv completionists to do until Muv-Luv Intergrate, Muv-Luv Resonantive and the butchered af censored af Kimi ga Nozomui Eien get released. (Spoiler: Don't get your hopes up for Kiminozo. 95% of the 60ish hours not covered by anime is a constant barrage of depression and suffering. Without the H scenes you're not missing much.) -The 2D CG is perfectly fine -Z-aN backs up your save data for you, so if you somehow lose both your SSD and your Steam Cloud, you won't lose your progress The bad: -If you added 3 currencies for unlocks and limited how often you could play missions it would be a F2P mobile game, complete with lame new waifus that do not provide entertainment or fan service. -The original Japanese Muv-Luv voice cast has been replaced, and they are all downgrades. The new Meiya voice at least tries to sound like Meiya. Hayase Mitsuki might as well be NPC A. You couldn't bring the original talent back? Really? These are not big stars; they do R18 games. They can't cost that much. -Game defaults to an English dub which manages to surpass the ear cancer of the new Japanese voice "talent." -Combat is not so terrible that it's completely unplayable, but it isn't exactly good either. It doesn't even come close to the original Virtual-On. From 1996. If Sega would collaborate on a A Certain Magical Virtual-On to revive the dead Virtual-On series for money, there's no reason to believe a deal couldn't be made for Virtual-On Alternative. You're getting a crappier version of Dynasty Warriors Gundam. The more I play it the less I like it. -When I watched a JP Let's Play about a year ago there did not appear to be any choices that allow you to "make your own story" as the sales copy claims. A few lines of dialogue change, but the story remains the same as it was in Alternative. You don't get to go back to the Extraverse, swipe a crappy RPG, have Yuuko-sensei play it and have her customize 5 TSFs to combine into a super TSF. If the game let me make my own story that's what I'd do. You can't even choose not to be a spaz to save Marimo-chan. Considering that the storyline justification for the new boring waifus is that they're supposed to be collecting data on every conceivable future, that's super lame. -If you go for 100% completion the majority of your gameplay will be grinding out random drops and getting xp on those random drops. -Runs like crap. Frequent slowdown and extended loading screens on a system that smokes the recommended specs. -Fights are constantly interrupted. Out of nowhere you'll get 5-10 seconds of slowdown every time a scene is played in the middle of the level. Some have multiple interruptions. You get the same thing if you die too, making the interruptions all the more unpleasant. You'll be thinking "what the f*** just killed me?!?!" only to have to find out there are 3 lines of dialogue coming. -You get better parts for your TSF in just about every fight which sounds good, but that also means you have to reconfigure the things constantly and leveling your gear is pointless, because you'll have something better before you get it to 2% anyway. Eventually I gave up and only upgraded parts when I actually died. -Menus and navigation are atrocious and counterintuitive. How do you f*** up menus?!?! -I sentence jackoff that approved the mouse and keyboard controls to death by chomp. Xbox controller required. -Makes you get a Z-aN account. Lame. I'm not sure what the target market for this game is supposed to be. People that want more Muv-Luv story won't find it here. People wanting to get the feels they got from the OG Muv-Luv games won't find them here. People that want satisfying mech combat won't find it here. Guys that want more Meiya and Mitsuki best girl tiddies won't find them here. I'm a hardcore Muv-Luv completionist and it's a chore for me to get through it. Maybe one day Meiya will drop some money on SAGA INTOPROCESS to fix it, but I kinda doubt it. YMMV on my negative points, but if you don't love it after an hour, get a refund. It doesn't get better. Keep in mind that the first time I played it the game had already been in Early Access for a little over two years, These are not launch issues.
