Description

The Story

Nikolai, a son of Soviet immigrants and a

normal Japanese student

, has no idea that his world is about to turn upside-down. The familiar, everyday life will clash inside of him with the ghosts of the past. Nikolai will have to decide who he can really trust and learn why he has become of interest to people with money and power that make the lives of regular people lose their significance.

The Heroines

Himitsu is Nikolai's childhood friend. She is kind, caring, always worries about him, and can sometimes even be too vexatious. But is she really satisfied with simple friendship? Perhaps the years of loyalty to Nikolai have earned her something more?

Catherine is Nikolai's ex-girlfriend who left japan about a year prior to the game's events. Their parting wasn't on the best terms, and Nikolai still harbours unpleasant memories of it. Perhaps he would have forgotten with time, but Catherine suddenly returns and, moreover, transfers to his class. Why is she back and does she love him still?

Ellie is the granddaughter of the head of trustees of Nikolai's school. She is a wilful, proud girl who knows her worth, yet she does not lack ardour. Is she as simple as she appears at first glance, or does a rebel hide under the guise of a pampered lady?

Kagome is the representative of Nikolai's class. He had never paid much attention to her before, but a certain turn of events makes them get to know each other better. Kagome is disliked in the school, not that she is burning with desire to get friendly with others herself. Are things so clear-cut with this unsociable girl, or is there more than meets the eye?

    Reviews about the game

    Love, Money, Rock'n'Roll29.11.2023

Amazing visual novel with lovely art and music and great story to match. Well worth my time watching it. VISUALS: Love the visuals. For a game that has music on its name, I think this is where its main forte is. All characters are beautifully drawn and animated. Even tertiary characters of relative little importance are also drawn in the story. Backgrounds are gorgeous and plenty and numbers, and some even have moving effects, such as trains passing by. Some of them are also available in the Steam Shop, and they are well worth the price. STORY: At first glance appears to be your typical schoolboy loner harem story, but quickly mixes in more mature themes - and sometimes not often seen in visual novels - such as espionage/intelligence, criminal activity, and money. Besides the protagonist, there are 4 main girls, divided in two distinct story arcs, that the protagonist may end in love with forever after - or not, as each girl has at least a couple of bad endings. Lots of decisions to be made along the way, and dozens of hours of storyline. Although not all bad endings are on equal footing - some are longer and more indepth than others, some have individual CGs and others not - they are nevertheless tragically enjoyable, as they can be quite sad, albeit realistic, to say the least. I enjoyed all story arcs but I have to say that Ellie is far better than the others due to pacing, story, and ending reasons - and the name of the game itself as a whole only makes sense on her story arc alone, which makes me think that the developers started out with her and then developed - and rushed things a little - the other characters. SOUND: Many different soundtracks available, including a handful with well sang spoken lyrics. All of them are enjoyable to listen to, and fit well with the background story at hand. Background noise is excellent, such as trains running by or people talking in the bar, really adds to the mood of the story. The only issue in this department that I have is that the game has no voice acting. A pity as it would add another layer of depth to an already deeply enthralling game. OTHER DETAILS: Includes a small encyclopedia of terms that may be unknown to lots of people, which is nice. Not many visual novels support mods natively, and this is one of them, and it even has Steam Workshop. A big plus for the game. SUMMARY: A long and enticing story that is enjoyable to read and even more to watch and listen, coupled with low base price at launch - and even lower at the present - for the content it includes. It is in my opinion that this is the best Western-made anime visual novel available. 10/10
