Reviews about the game

Dishonored®: Death of the Outsider™10.12.2023

Death of the Outsider is a good game. It's pretty fun and the story is quite good. However, I can't view it in a vacuum, and not compare it to the first two games. The first is an amazing game that does everything a video game should do phenomenally. The second is a worthy sequel that largely follows suit in regards to pretty much everything the first does so well. And yet, after finishing this third game (which I quite enjoyed), once I sat down and thought about it, I realized this game felt... lazy. Almost uninspired. Which, again, isn't to say the developers sat down under a portrait of Scrooge McDuck, rubbed their hands together, and plotted and schemed to milk the success of their first game for 30 more dollars. But compared to the first two, Death of the Outsider felt lacking. The first two games had different kinds of enemies (not many different kinds, but still a few), forcing you to adapt your strategy accordingly. This game had soldiers, soldiers, hounds, a few Clockworks in one of the levels, and finally introduces a new kind of enemy for the last 20 minutes of the game. The first two games had boss fights, and all of them were different, and all of them were fun. This game- yeah, no. The first two had the small skill system with powers. This game gives you a couple of powers in level 2 or 3 and that's that. I get that Billy not having the Outsider's mark is a decision to do with the plot, but that's a feeble argument for not having learnable/upgradeable skills when you give her powers anyway. The story was comparatively short, hence not as good, not as memorable. Being short isn't an excuse- it's another flaw. I don't know, or care, if it was or was not marketed as a "full game", if it was or was not intended as an expansion to the second game. What I know is that for the same $30 price tag as Dishonored 2, this game offers half the value. I'd (again) love to have a mixed feelings option for a steam review, because while I want to pointedly express how disappointed I am with this game's shortcomings, I did enjoy playing it. I had fun. I'd only recommend it if you really liked the first two games, but prepare to feel at least somewhat disappointed if so.
I can taste blood in my mouth. I can hear Daud's voice in my ear. These eyes were closed for centuries, and I saw... everything. Bound here, I walked through the minds of generations. And now...
Nice game, maybe not as fun or pretty as 2 but still nice. You play as Billie Lurk this time, with a new set of abilities and toolkit. Less lethal and combat based abilities but you can telefrag people this time... Includes: Charging up arrow shots, sword that lets you swing energy blasts at other people, non lethal grenades, amongus ability, astral projection, seeing a silhouette of yourself writhing like a zombie?. Stone golem monsters, stink bombs, a bonecharm that lets you create a shockwave when you land... like a big guy squeezing inbetween 2 other guys into a train seat... no offense to big guys.

Dishonored®: Death of the Outsider™23.11.2023

Set in the same beautifully crafted, dark, and atmospheric world, this standalone offers a unique perspective on the story as playing the fascinating character Billie Lurk and delving into the Outsider's lore. The writing is exceptional, with intriguing characters and plot twists. It's a testament to the Dishonored series' storytelling prowess. Gameplay-wise, Death of the Outsider retains the franchise's signature blend of stealth, supernatural abilities, and open-ended level design witch continues to shine. Going for a non-lethal or a more brutal approach, the game will accommodate. It's this flexibility that makes Dishonored stand out among stealth games. One minor drawback is the relatively short length of the game compared to the main entries in the series. /!\ Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is verified on Steam Deck and a good fit with medium settings and a 50 FPS cap.
