Description

Enhance the full Blitzkrieg experience!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/235380/http://store.steampowered.com/app/313500/

Eisenhower, Rommel, Zhukov; Assume your rightful place among the great generals commanding the Allies, Germans or Soviets as they advance through the decisive battles of WWII. Blitzkrieg is the latest development in WWII real-time strategy gaming combining flexibility, historic accuracy and endless playability into one of the most challenging and enjoyable games yet!

Blitzkrieg's unique and completely flexible campaign structure puts you in control of deciding how your forces will fare in each of the major engagements that comprise three central Campaigns. Hardcore vets have the option of engaging the enemy immediately in a desperate struggle for battlefield dominance, or more cautious players can choose from pre-defined or unlimited randomly generated side missions as they gain experience, promotions and weapons upgrades as well as wear down the enemy before the central conflict.

Historical accuracy is pushed to the edge as each unit is endowed with the actual capabilities and characteristics that existed at the time. Details such as the thickness of a tank's armor down to the range of infantry rifles add a level of previously unprecedented realism. Each campaign has been meticulously researched to provide an accurate depiction of the battles that took place, while still maintaining the flexibility (and fun!) necessary to let you play the way you want.

Two robust editors are Blitzkrieg's keys to unlocking endless game play possibilities. The Mission Editor allows you to generate and add your own missions, chapters and campaigns according to the options you want most, from level of difficulty to type of action. The Resource Editor gives you total license to redesign the game, add or modify units, characteristics, colors, textures, sounds and more - unlimited freedom to play the game on your terms.

Key Features
  • Flexible campaign structure that frees you from standard difficulty and level settings
  • Historically accurate campaigns where you lead the Allies, Germans or Soviets through actual WWII battles in real time
  • Mission and Resource editors let you create new campaigns, chapters and missions as well as completely modify the game environment and units
  • Realistically rendered 3D terrain including over 350 various buildings and objects
  • Command over 200 types of military vehicles and equipment and more than 40 different infantry units that interact naturally, based on their actual physical properties and characteristics.
  • Build bridges, dig trenches and pits, lay mines, resupply and repair units and call in air support when needed
  • Battles feature different seasons, climate zones, and weather conditions that affect game play

Reviews about the game

Blitzkrieg Anthology12.10.2023

It's a classic for a reason. I've played it and its expansions since they came out on CD and had to get it for steam. Graphics are dated, but I think it still looks great for its time. Not having to worry about resources really allows you to focus on combat, which still seams like a breath of fresh air from other RTSs so many years later. Lastly, the UI is intuitive and never really feels clunky. To me, this is just a pure fun RTS that will likely never be topped.

I find this game way better than Sudden Strike. In the base game, you can play as the Allies (United Kingdom and then the United States), the Soviet Union and Germany. You start each game with some infantry, a sniper/officer (both have the ability to see farther but the sniper can kill, useful against artillery), an armored recon car/light tank, 3 armored vehicles of your choice and 3 artillery/anti-tank/anti-air pieces of your choice. As you progress in the campaign, you unlock better tanks/self-propelled artillery/tank destroyers and anti-air/artillery/anti-tank/rocket artillery equipment and it's up to you to choose if you want light/medium/heavy tanks or self-propelled artillery or tank destroyers and if you want 3 howitzers instead of AA guns. The Allies campaign starts in Norway, then North Africa, Italy, Normandy and finally the Battle of the Bulge. The German campaign starts in Poland, then Belgium-France, North Africa, Italy, Normandy and finally the Battle of the Bulge. The Soviet campaign starts in Finland, then Leningrad, Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk, Operation Bagration, the Balkans, Poland and finally the Battle of Berlin. In all campaigns, you have to play at least 1 (3 recommended) random map missions before playing the main historical mission. You can use tanks as the Churchill, the Sherman, the M26 Pershing, Sherman Calliope (rocket artillery) and the Super Heavy Tank T28 in the last battle as the Allies. You can use tanks as the Panzers II, III, IV, the Tiger, King Tiger and the Super Heavy Tank Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus as well as the 88mm Flak gun and the Nebelwerfer in the last battle as the Germans. You can use tanks as the T-26, T-28, T-34 model 39, model 42, T-34/76, T-34/85, IS-1, IS-2 and IS-3 as well as the Katyusha as the Soviet Union. You also have the ability to call air support (recon, paratroopers, fighters, close air support and bombers). The base game is correct, but the expansions are better. BLITZKRIEG: ROLLING THUNDER You play as American General George S. Patton. You start in Operation Torch in Morocco and Tunisia. You then take part in Operation Husky in Sicily where you fight from the beaches of Gela, the capital of Palermo up to the heavily defended hills of Messina. You then take part in Operation Overlord where you land in Omaha Beach, followed by Operation Cobra (Patton's famous tank spearhead through the Cotentin Peninsula and Avranche) and the Falaise Pocket where you control American, British, Canadian and Polish troops and have the task to find and destroy a King Tiger. This is followed by the battle of the Bulge (the two hardest missions of the game) where you must evacuate infantry and equipment from the frontline back to the base while being harassed by German infantry behind your lines, followed by your counterattack on a mission where you need to position your anti-tank, artillery and tanks to repel German incusions. You then take part in the Allied invasion of Germany and you fight in the industrial Rhineland/Ruhr area. After that, you liberate of a concentration camp in a very audacious mission behind enemy lines and the final mission lets you fight in Czechoslovakia. At the end of the last mission, you also have an option to leave your troops there and the Soviets will fight you since you didn't leave their sphere of influence zone. This is personally my favorite. BLITZKRIEG: BURNING HORIZON You play as German General Erwin Rommel. You start in the invasion of Belgium and France , breaking Allied frontlines and using blitzkrieg to go so fast in France even your high command doesn't know where you are. This is followed by the battle for North Africa in Lybia and Egypt. You take part in the battles of Tobruk and El Alamein before retreating in Tunisia. Then, you try to defend against allied forces in Sicily and Italy. Finally, your last mission takes place in Normandy where you try one last desperate counter-attack against overwhelming allied forces. The expansions bring more infantry when you use the paradrop ability (4 transport planes instead of one in the base game). Same thing for bombers (3-4 instead of 1). Some tanks have variants (Panzer 3s and 4s) and the missions are more immersive and historical. I'm not sure how much I paid for this but I'd say it's worth a good US $14.99. The graphics are not impressive since it's an old game but the gameplay is cool and you need to use strategy because sending all your troops at once at the enemy will obliterate your army. The 3 campaigns + 2 expansions will give you about 10+ hours of gameplay.
