Description

The highly anticipated sequel to Atonement: Scourge of Time finally comes to Steam!

General Features:

  • Direct sequel to Atonement: Scourge of Time.
  • Explore the alternate timeline, where the final outcome of the first game took a grimmer turn. Characters you’ve known already will not be the same. Friends will become enemies, and enemies will become friends.
  • Regenerating energy battle mechanic is back! Carefully manage how you spend your energy as some skills can leave you dry very fast!
  • No level ups or experience points! Similar character progression to City of Chains – gain skill points upon completing quests and choose which battle skills or passive abilities to learn.
  • Non-linear gear progression. Equipment system now consists of enchantments that you can find all over the world. Use these to customize your character’s offensive and defensive bonuses to your liking.
  • All enemy encounters are visible, so you can tackle them when you’re ready. Some passive abilities will allow you to bypass battles without needing to fight.
  • In addition to the main party’s story arc, witness flashbacks from a distant past, where you get to control a second party of characters. Any decisions you make during these scenes will have an impact on the present.

Story:

Three weeks have passed since the events of Atonement: Scourge of Time. The world was saved… or so it seemed. Whilst keeping a low profile, Elleria began to notice strange occurrences – ominous dreams, a persistent weakness, and mysterious portals coming out of nowhere.

Before long, she and her allies find themselves in an alternate timeline – a timeline where events took a grimmer and more depressing turn, with familiar characters no longer being the same, and Elleria herself being at the centre of it all.

Wanting nothing more than to simply return to her home timeline, Elleria will have to face her fears, her lineage, and herself, in order to overcome treacherous hazards, eldritch secrets, fallen angels, overwhelming odds, and maybe, just maybe, save others in the process.

Reviews about the game

Atonement 2: Ruptured by Despair10.06.2022

Standard RPG Maker game. Poor graphics, monotonous controls in inventory and battle controls. Straightforward Storyline and Sidequests, a continuation from the earlier Scourge of Time. But unlike the others, and earlier Atonement 1, there is not leveling or grind system for accumulating EXP or hoarding of Inventory, just a point system in completing missions to unlock Skill. As usual, the chase for the ' Hard ' difficulties, Dismal Mode is not a simple game, requires careful planning and consideration in the limited use of Heals, usage of Credits, Skill Points, Pickups and Equipment. Plan and Study well, paths to take, location to save and reload, in order to fully unlock all achievements in one Sitting. Decent but a Struggle. Glad its over, a sense of achievement in 100% completion in Dismal. Playable.

If you are a fan of the first, then you should play this one. Those that complain these are just another RPGMaker game are pretty wrong. You can tell that a lot of time went into making this, and for the price it's an unbelievable value. Having said that, I would say this is the weaker of the two titles. The story is convoluted, I don't really like the orb system compared to the previous weapons system, and the character development is much weaker here. BUT, it's still miles better than the majority of other games with the RPGMaker tag. And the music is still great and very much raises the bar compared to similar titles. If you like the Atonement series, I recommend City of Chains from the same developer, it's a cyberpunk RPG with similar stylings.

Atonement 2 Ruptured by Despair on steam is a videogame featuring multipurpose RPG gameplay with a bold energizing twist that can be confusing to some people and a greatly challenge to alot of fellow gamers! What i can say about this wonderful game that the bosses are alot creative then the first original game i gave a 10.0/10 but in reality what makes this game not a 10 high point score is the battle system!Their's no level up and if your right on your choices like items that arent delivered in the right shady foundation! Little do they know they have to conserve items then use them right away,or you will not beat the game entirely! The music is tasteless to some degree but it does have some nice chirp tunes to listen to graphics are alot better, and for what it is,it has a nice texture but i prefer the original over this one so much into bonus bucks of gratitude! So im going to give this game a 9.0/10 its fair mainly cause the bosses are alot into artistic patterns, and forms and the whole game has a good feel of being a satisfying rpg..but theirs always that flaw battle system that makes the game lower then it ever achieved love the burrito master

I really enjoyed this game. I just finished playing the first one just before the sequel came out. I thought this was an excellent continuation of the first story. Since this game seemed longer than the first, I liked having the second team incorporated into the flashbacks as opposed to having to play the entire game again with a second team. I thought having your decisions in the flashbacks directly impact your game play in present day was a perfect way to encourage replay. Of course, the music once again was above board. I would strongly recommend this game to anyone and look forward to any potential sequels!
